This is still one of my favorite photos and a defining shot for LooseThreads. It really captures something essential about my aesthetic. Craft-wise, it’s also the perfect example of how I treat the camera and photoshop as equally important tools that work in harmony to arrive at a final shot.
This shot was entirely improvised by the model. It may not be apparent in the photo, but the cross behind her is part of a coffin lid and she suggested putting the light inside of it. We took quite a few shots and I could have constructed a longer set, but I felt it was more powerful as a single image.
